Compost is good. It makes you feel like you are doing something. I lived in an apartment for one year, and could not compost. It drove me crazy!

Here is what you do:
Create a bin. How? Use old crates and nail them together, find a large empty container of any kind, and punch holes in them to make it breathe, buy one, or dig a hole in the ground. The ideal dimension is 3' x 4'.
Throw in your waste. What? Here is the formula: Carbon to Nitrogen should be about 3 : 1.
I think of it primarily as Green and Brown. Brown is Carbon, and Green is Nitrogen.
Products high in Nitrogen: Coffee Grounds, Manure, Grass Clippings, Kitchen Scraps, Fruit waste.
Products lower in Nitrogen and higher in Carbon: Corn stalks, Newspaper, Sawdust, Straw, Leaves.
Do NOT put dairy or meat products in your compost. AND if you need some extra material, get creative: You can pick up a brown bag of leaves and grass clipping that homeowners put on the curb for pick up, or go to a coffee joint, and ask for their grounds.
