October Maintenance

The best time of year has finally arrived in Austin, Texas....FALL! This is a time for being outdoors and contemplation.

Also,
Plant new TREES!

Plant Fall Annuals: Calendulas, Kale, Cabbage, Pansy, Dianthus, Snapdragons
Plant more Fall Veggies: Sugarsnap peas, Arugula, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Chinese Cabbage, Collard Greens, Carrots, Beets, Garlic, Spinach, Lettuce....oh my! what a feast!
MULCH all your beds.
Prune:
Slightly prune back your perennials to encourage another display of blooms, dead head your roses, and wait until Winter for your major pruning.
Fertilize:
Fertilize your shrubs with Hasta Gro plants, your lawn with a Hasta Gro lawn and/or Liquid Seaweed, your annuals with Bloodmeal or another high nitrogen alternative, your trees.
Water:
You can lower the frequency with which you irrigate your lawn to 2 times a week for 10-12 minutes each zone. Add extra water to your vegetable gardens and your annuals.
Mowing:
Fall is still an active growing time for your lawn, so continue to mow your lawn every week to keep the roots active and healthy.
