Here is another idea for the procrastinators out there looking for a Green gift that keeps on giving. I like plants. I like to give them to people. The plants continue to give to people. So, here is the idea:
Take a cool glass jar or container you may already have in your recycling like a Topo Chico bottle, Maple Syrup, Spaghetti Sauce, or go buy a unique jar at a thrift store. Fill with water. Find a friend or relative who has a Pothos Ivy and take a cutting. Put it in the jar, and tie a ribbon. Voila! Unique, cool, and easy.
Details: Cut 6-8" lengths of the Pothos Ivy that have one or two air roots. The air roots are the little stubby brown growths which appear along its leggiest portions. Then, submerge in water, and while the roots will take over the container, the leaves will continue to grow. The only maintenance is checking the water level every month.
The great thing about this plant is it purifies the indoor air. So keep a lot of these cuttings around!
