Dead Heading Your Roses for More Blooms! Cut off the faded flowers, using pruning tools such as scissors or hand pruners. Snip the stem below the bloom just ABOVE the FIRST leaflet. This a new method that applies to all Large-flowered Roses. Not only does the rose come back into flower between flushes more quickly, using this method, but with appreciably more flowers. The Lakes are low is the usual drought narrative.
