January Maintenance

It is now January of 2009. A new year that may have less wacky stories in the news, and a time to decompress from the craziness of 2008.

Here are a few things you can do this month to maintain your garden:

Water one time a week or less depending on your plantscape. Your lawns need little water while dormant so continue to water once every 8 - 9 days.

Pick out weeds, turn you compost, clean up your work space to get ready for next month's planting.

Look through seed catalogs and order some Spring seeds.

Plant a tree to commemorate MLK day.

Prune your trees...this is the best time of year to do it. Clean up dead branches and low hanging ones. Always spray paint wounds on Oak trees after you make cuts.

Enjoy some of these warm winter days to take a dip at Barton Springs!
